Pretending To Play

Freezepop Forever!

This will tell you what I've been listening to lately.

They do all their production on the QY70 (a particular brand of sequencer; looks like a large, silver Gameboy Advance) and they kick ass.

They are, naturally, independents. (Their label is Archenemy Records.) I found them on Kazaa yesterday by punching in "Jem Theme" and getting a kitschy, cute, "Heil Eighties Disco" surprise. That lead me straight back to the almighty Google and punching in "Freezepop" which got me the main site, a few remixes, ordering info and just generally made me a happy camper. *^_^*

If I had the disposable income, (and I should, my parents owe me almost fifty bucks) I'd grab the t-shirt. That's seriously a cute graphic of the three of them. And I have this weakness for t-shirts.

I still have my "Backstreet's Back Tour '98" shirt. Long may it reign.

Anyway. How do they sound?

Frankly, they sound like a Japanese pop band, but in English. Mmm, no, that does them a slight diservice; they're light, lovely synthpop that will make you happy against your will.

Jheti recommends:

Starlight (slow and very pretty, Liz breaks out a very haunting mood for it)

Freezepop Forever (THE bounciest song you will ever hear in English. *Boing, boing, boing.* F-R-E-E-Z-E-P-O-P Forever! *Boing* And ever, *boing* and ever...Brin, predictably, is going nuts. Someone needs to take that schoolgirl outfit with the striped ankle warmers away from her, but I'm not gonna be the one to do it...Besides, she looks cute with all those little butterfly clips in her hair. ^_^)

Stakeout (brand new; you can hear it under "Etc." and then "Videos", it's got a cute animated sequence to go with it.)

Science Genius Girl (eerie and fun)

Jem Theme ('Cause I'm a closet Jem freak. "Jem is excitement, Jem is adventure, glamour and glitter, fashion and fame, Jeeeem is truly outrageous, truly truly truly outrageous!" FEEL the love. And Liz does an excellent job of representin' my girls, the Misfits.)

Oh, and did you know?

Their resident gearhead and programmer nerd is none other than "The Duke of Belgian Waffles", known to a few of us as Kasson Cooker--the former gearhead and programmer nerd of Splashdown. For this reason alone Freezepop should be worshipped and obeyed.

Realistically, they're not the greatest band ever, but they're a lot better than most of the shit climbing the Top 40 chart just now.

Oh, and Angie Hart's "Blue" is indeed quite nice. Took me eight hours to get ahold of someone who would actually share the file, but it was worth the wait. Not my usual, but very pretty nonetheless. I enjoyed the imagery :^)

I'm off to go snag some Jem instrumentals now.

Showtime, Synergy. It's Jem Unlimited. Incredibly thorough site. Outrageous downloads. The design is kinda yucky, but the stuff and detail makes up for it. Besides, it's designed with IE Five in mind...

Seeya 'round.

Life

It's What's For Dinner

The cats are gone, woo-hoo!

I fear I'm copying you again, dear...

Reading: "Entwined Destinies" by LucitaRose, "Understanding" by Drucilla, some stuff for my commitments

Listening: "Atom Bomb" by Fluke. SHAKE that ass. She's got a miracle/She doesn't want at all

Wishing: mom would leave me the hell alone. I seem to be wishing that a lot, lately.

She says: "You've got 'til July 1st, at which point you will either have a job and be independent, or be going to school and be independent."

I don't know about you ladies, but just between us, I'd say the free ride is over.

On the upshot, I'm hoping to enroll someone as my personal coach, and I do want to go to school. (And exactly how much crow shall I eat today? *Makes a face.* Hmm...It could use some salt.)

Why not get my shit together? I might actually make something of myself. And wouldn't that piss her off.

I find the notion...oddly appealing >^D

I don't want to live alone, though. Living alone = no more stepdad and no more Tenchi and actually having to pay for things like water, electricity, phone service, and the Internet. Not to mention I would miss my mother. Not her attitude problem, maybe, but I'd definitely miss her.

Besides, again, there's the money thing. I have none. And I have no car. And until we've got a car I can actually drive, that's a moot point anyway.

Hmm...again, it goes back to this person I'm going to be talking to. She ought to help me sort my shit out quick, fast and in a hurry.

It's like I told Ernigmac yesterday:

"WHEEE! I'm going nowhere, but I'm getting there faster than everybody else!"

I guess I'm done being evil now. Seeya round. ^^;

Radio Kuatan

Good Morning Outworld

I got my characters together, and they made theme choices.

Now look who's coming
Yeah, look who's back
Quick, drop the Bombshell
Straight to the track
The twenty-first century killing machine

Hello, Nomad Mileena *^_^*

Now I'm not the same because you're not the same
And you're not the same because I'm not the same
Now we're not the same it, could never be the same
And we just want to survive!

--"Bombshell", Powerman 5000

What is it really
That's going on here?
You've got the system for total control
Now is there any-body out there?
Know what you suffer yeah 'cause we can't go
What is it really
That is in your head?
What little life that you had just died
I'm gonna be the one that's taking over
Now this is what it's like when worlds collide

Brin and Shang Tsung, tossing lines back and forth at different intervals. The chorus is Brin's and is as follows:

Are you ready to go,
'Cause I'm ready to go
What'chu gonna do, baby, baby?
Are you going with me,
'Cause I'm going with you
That's the end of all time!

--Powerman 5000, "When Worlds Collide"

Hmm. I don't think Kitana's happy about being taken along for the ride:

I know your life is empty
And you hate to face this world alone
So you're searching for an angel
Someone who can make you whole
[...]
Now that you've been damaged
Your soul has suffered such abuse
I am not your savior
I am just as fucked as you
[...]
Life has been a nightmare
Soul is fractured to the bones
If I must be lonely
I think I'd rather be alone

You cannot save me
You can't even save yourself
I cannot save you
I can't even save myself

Save yourself!

--"Save Yourself", Stabbing Westward

Baraka pulled another of his usual surprises:

If the night turns cold and the stars look down
And you hug yourself on the cold, cold ground
And you wake in the morning
In a stranger's coat
No one would you see
If you ask yourself, who'd watch for me
My only friend, who could it be?
It's hard to say it
I hate to say it,
But it's probably me
[.................]
When the world's gone crazy, and it makes no sense
And there's only one voice that comes to your defence
And the jury's out
And your eyes search the room
And one friendly face is all you need to see
If there's one guy, just one guy
Who'd lay down his life for you and die
I hate to say it
I hate to say it
But it's probably me

--"It's Probably Me", Sting

Leave it to him to grab downtempo soft rock. ^_~

The rest of the tracks sort of fluctuate. Honestly, I don't know why I'm putting it together, except that it's something creative to do with a minimum of effort. Not that I haven't been putting the hours in; there's notes about that in the usual place.

I do have other stuff I'm supposed to be doing. I can't decide if things are going well or not. We're holding onto some kittens for a friend and that's a total love-hate thing. I've got commitments every Friday now and that's a total love-hate thing. The stuff I'm supposed to be doing is due by 7PM tonight and I'm definitely NOT loving that.

Sorry to bore you ^^;

I guess I'll be around later when I have something worth saying.

Seeya peeps :^)
